Long Live Rock ‘n’ Roll is Dio’s last album with Rainbow and it’s unsurprisingly awesome. The songs here strike a valence between straightforward heavy rock jams and epic mystical tracks.. sometime both elements in the same tune. The band is further bolstered by bassist extraordinaire Bob Daisley, but the real fire with this record is brought by Blackmore, Dio, and drummer Cozy Powell who absolutely crushes it. If there ever was a foreshadowing of the heavy metal movement that was about to hit like a ton of bricks, this album is it. Essential album on many points.
