The Walker Brothers - Lines (1976)

Lines captures the group during their mid-70s reunion period. Departing from the lush orchestral pop of their 1960s sound, the album leans into a more stripped-back, melancholic style, with elements of country, soft rock, and singer-songwriter introspection. At this point, I haven’t really dug into the earlier Walker Brothers material so can only judge what I am hearing now, but I am surprised at how much I like this album. There are a ton of things her that should send me packing, but I’m somehow into it.

1976 UK pressing from GTO Records. I found this copy at a charity shop while on an unusual gig in Reading, UK a few years ago. Not much to do in Reading, but I managed to find some cool albums, hit a great burger pub, walked though an awesome old cemetery, and explored the ruins of a 900+ year old church. Ok, I suppose that was all pretty awesome.
