Cathedral - Endtyme (2001)

Endtyme marks a grim return to Cathedral’s crushing roots, moving away from the psychedelic directions of earlier records in favor of monolithic riffing and an apocalyptic tone. It’s one of the band’s darkest and heaviest albums, steeped in dread and doom but still laced with that unmistakable Lee Dorrian eccentricity. The production is thick and cavernous and it sounds fucking epic. I still do not have a majority of Cathedral’s catalog on vinyl, but happy that this is one of the few in my collection. Cover artwork by Stephen O’Malley from Sunn O))).

2023 UK reissue from Earache Records and it’s solid.
