Goatsnake - Flower Of Disease (2000)

Flower Of Disease is a thick slab of blues-drenched doom where Sabbath worship meets desert rock vibes. Goatsnake tighten thing up on this LP, with Greg Anderson’s riffs oozing fuzz and Pete Stahl’s soulful vocals cutting through like a preacher at a peyote revival. There’s a raw warmth to the production that makes the whole thing feel like it was recorded in a sun-scorched garage with amp stacks towering like monoliths. Took me a little while to really appreciate this album, but it’s grown on me like a fungus.

2015 US reissue from Southern Lord and it hits hard.
