John Carpenter - Lost Themes (2015)

Lost Themes is John Carpenter’s unexpected debut as a solo recording artist, offering a set of brand-new synth-driven instrumentals that feel like soundtracks to movies that never existed. Working with his son Cody Carpenter and godson Daniel Davies, he conjures the same eerie, propulsive energy that made his film scores so iconic. It’s moody, cinematic, and unsurprisingly excellent —like Carpenter never stopped dreaming up shadowy streets and supernatural threats even after stepping away from directing. Strongly recommended.

2015 US pressing from Sacred Bones Records. So. Damn. Good.
