Array 1 represents Loop’s unexpected return after a 25-year hiatus, and it sounds like they never left the swirling vortex of hypnotic, motorik-driven space rock they crafted until the early 1990s. Each track slowly unfurls with layers of fuzz, reverb, and tension that build into trance-like climaxes. The 20-minute “Precession” is the centerpiece, a sprawling slab of feedback meditation and locked-in rhythms that feel both timeless and alien. It’s heavier and more industrial than their earlier work, leaning into texture over melody, but it works so damn good.
