Arriving a noteworthy seven years after the Array 1 EP, Sonancy pushes Loop’s sound into sharper, more aggressive territory, trading in some of their signature haze for a punchier, more jagged edge. Robert Hampson’s guitar work is delivered with tighter precision and a raw, almost mechanical energy not present in earlier recordings. It’s a lean, focused record that retains Loop’s trance-inducing core while injecting it with a more direct feel for current times. I can only hope there’s more to come as Sonancy is on fire.
