Moving Gelatine Plates - The World Of Genius Hans (1972)

The World Of Genius Hans finds Moving Gelatine Plates stretching further out than on their debut, delivering a more ambitious and densely arranged suite of instrumental prog. The title track alone sprawls across nearly 27 minutes, veering through funky basslines, jazzy brass sections, and complex time signatures with ease. There’s a deeper fusion influence here—shades of Nucleus, Zappa, and early Mahavishnu—but the band still keeps its quirky spirit intact and the album is both serious and irreverent at the same time. Love this shit!

2016 French reissue from Replica Records/Musea. Picked up both of these MGP LPs at the amazing Wah Wah Records in Barcelona and cannot recommend that shop enough if you are into the more adventurous sounds of the 1960s and 70s. I totally pissed of my wife last time we were in Barcelona and I spent hours in this insane little shop.
