Simple Mind Condition marks Trouble’s return after a long hiatus, carrying the weight of their legacy while pushing into more reflective, melancholic territory. The album trades some of the old doom punch for a more contemplative, almost grunge-tinged vibe. Tracks like “Mindbender” and “Trouble Maker” still deliver heavy, groove-laden riffs, but there’s a notable sadness running underneath—fitting for a band whose early spiritual heaviness had evolved into something more world-weary. It’s a slow burn of an album that has not yet received the praise that it’s due, but that time will come. In the meantime, I am here for it.
2022 Netherlands reissue from Hammerheart Records and it sounds great.
