Virus - The Agent That Shapes The Desert (2011)

The Agent That Shapes The Desert is a warped, cerebral journey from Norwegian avant-rock outfit Virus: The album trades black metal dissonance for a twangy, off-kilter groove that feels like surf rock from another dimension—angular, hypnotic, and eerily detached. Guitars coil and slither around complex rhythms, while Czral’s deadpan vocals add a surreal narrative tone, like a post-apocalyptic crooner reciting cryptic proverbs. It’s dry, alien, and strangely infectious. I may have a weird brain as this is the kind of music that speaks to me. Perfection.

2017 Norwegian reissue from Duplicate Records.
