The Mantle was my entry point to Agalloch and remains one of my favorite albums across their varied and unique discography. The PNW answer to Norwegian black and folk metal evolution at the time, yet with a distinctive dark folk vibe that is unique to this band. From digging through all my old CDs, my daughter has unexpectedly gotten really into Agalloch and sharing these listening experiences with her makes my world a better place.
2024 German reissue on Eisenwald and honestly, this record sound absolutely perfect. One of the most dynamic records I can remember listening to in some time.
