Synthesist is Harald Grosskopf’s debut as a solo artist after stints with Ash Ra Tempel, Ashra, and Klaus Schulze. The album bridges the Berlin School’s hypnotic sequencing with warmer, more melodic synth textures, giving it a distinctly personal feel compared to the often icy precision of his peers. The album is warm, had pulsating rhythms that don’t stop, and sets a visual soundscape throughout. An absolute masterwork, IMHO.
2014 German reissue from Bureau B. Excellent.
