BBC 1974 Londres captures Magma at their visceral peak during a live session for British radio, with a lean, aggressive lineup that delivers an intense, almost martial performance. The recording includes a condensed yet ferocious rendition of “Köhntarkösz”, where Jannick Top’s bass rumbles like tectonic plates and Vander drives the band with explosive precision. There’s a rawness to this set—no-frills production, stripped arrangements—that highlights the band’s rhythmic core and gives the performance a tighter, more visceral edge compared to the studio version. I fucking love this archival release to death.
2021 RSD release (first time on vinyl) from Music On Vinyl/Seventh Records and it is absolutely incredible. I’ve had this on CD for years and adore this vinyl edition as well.
