Miles Davis - Agharta (1975)

Agharta is a scorched-earth live set from 1975, capturing Miles Davis deep in his electric, apocalyptic funk phase. Recorded in Osaka with a band that included Pete Cosey and Reggie Lucas on guitars, Michael Henderson on bass, and Al Foster on drums, the album stretches fusion to its outer limits—raw, heavy, and sometimes outright confrontational. There are grooves, but they mutate constantly; melodies appear and evaporate. It’s chaotic, ritualistic, and often brutally loud! Fucking alright! This is the madness I crave.

1976 US pressing on Columbia and it’s a well traveled beauty. Perfectly imperfect.
