Energetic Disassembly is the brain-melting debut from Watchtower and is often credited as one of the earliest examples of technical thrash or progressive metal. The album barrels forward with hyper-speed riffing, chaotic time signatures, and dizzying complexity that predates and arguably lays groundwork for bands like Coroner, Atheist, and even early Dream Theater. This album is fucking bananas and I love it.
Original 1985 US pressing on Zombo Records. I’ve only once ever come across this record a few years back, at a great shop called Material World in Brooklyn, NY and this is that copy. I passed up an original copy of Kreator’s Pleasure To Kill for this, hah.
