Anacrusis - Manic Impressions (1991)

Manic Impressions, while still firmly built from thrash, feels like the point when Anacrusis fully embraces their progressive metal direction. The songs are technical, complex, and forward thinking in composition and feels. The production is sounds digital and ice cold, which seems to support the vibe of the music. Overall it’s a great album, but I’d advise anyone unfamiliar with Anacrusis to take this on with an open mind and don’t be too quick to discount what’s going on here.

2019 US/EU reissue on Metal Blade Records.
