At the time Killing Is My Business came out in 1985, is almost seemed that Megadeth had the tenacity, skills, and unchecked anger to overtake Metallica. This album is insanely technical, has weird jazz sensibilities, and projects a raw, almost punk vibe with the bare bones production that works so fucking good here. Of course, Megadeth continued to evolve and grow in popularity, but by 1988 or so, it was clear that they’d never surpass Metallica, which seemed to grind Dave Mustaine more than anyone else. But hey, this album is a dirty fucking masterpiece and easily one of the best thrash metal albums ever made. I’m probably a shitty Megadeth fan, but I strongly believe this is the greatest album they ever made.
OG 1985 US pressing on Combat Records. I had initially bought this on cassette in 1985 and believe I landed this used somewhere within a year or two of its initial release. All reissues of this are garbage! The original mix/master is the only version of this LP worth a shit.
