Megadeth - So Far, So Good… So What! (1988)

Megadeth’s third album marks the first lineup change for the band, which would eventually find Dave Mustaine as the only constant. Guitarist Chris Poland and drummer Gar Samuelson are both out… replaced by Jeff Young and Chuck Behler, respectively. These changes aside, So Far So Good is a decent enough follow up to Peace Sells, though the band’s wild jazz-fusion influences soon to have left with Poland and Samuelson. This is the last Megadeth album I ever bought..: and while I like it a good deal, Mustaine’s vocals, and honestly, his emerging personality traits began to turn me off… yes, way back in 1988. I respect that he’s accomplished a lot since this cycle, but this was my last stop on the ride, hah.

I did see this lineup of Megadeth in November of 1987 with Seattle heroes Sanctuary and that was a pretty good show. Just a couple of months before this album was released.

1988 US pressing on Capitol Records. Got this used somewhere… Rubato Records? Maybe Cellophane Square?
