Metallica were still reeling from Cliff Burton’s death in a tour bus accident the band experienced while on tour in Europe the year prior, but still managed to recruit a fine bassist in Jason Newsted, fresh out of Flotsam And Jetsam. This EP is merely a brief selection of covers, but Metallica as a unit is still firing on all cylinders and the resulting cover version are all fantastic in selection, performance, true to the originals and totally in Metallica’s superior thrash style at the time. Diamond Head, Holocaust, Budgie, Killing Joke, and Misfits! Hell of a mix and it works!
Original 1987 US pressing on Elektra. I bought this brand new in 1987 at my local Fred Meyer, hah! Still in primo condition.
