The Mystick Crewe Of Clearlight was/is a New Orleans based group that is partially made up of some well-known members of other bands. I had the pleasure of catching these fellas open for Corrosion Of Conformity and Clutch in the year 2000 and they absolutely blew me away. The whole band was insanely good, but organist Ross Karpelman and drummer Joey LaCaze lean into some serious 70s styled deeeeep jams was otherworldly. This album does a good job of capturing that vibe, though this band should have been way bigger than they were. So good!
Original 2000 US on Tee Pee Records. Landed this at a fantastic Brooklyn shop called Material World a few years back and it’s a fucking treasure.
