Ashes Against The Grain is easily one of Agalloch’s peak moments in terms of creativity and execution. An absolute gem of a record, perfectly threading the needle between dark neofolk and what is sometimes known as Cascadian black metal. Definitely a PNW sound woven into the fabric of Agalloch’s works. Some beautiful shit going on here!
2025 German pressing on Eisenwald. Set to be released on August 29th, but I literally got this in the mail today. A little stoked and it sounds fucking fantastic.
