Death Thy Lover is a 4-song EP, and the first brand new material released by Candlemass since their split with vocalist Robert Lowe. At this time the band brought in singer Mats Levén, who has previously worked with Leif Edling Abstrakt Algebra and Krux; all of which is excellent stuff, so in a lot of ways, Levén is a natural fit and he sounds really good on this EP, IMHO… apparently much of the Candlemass didn’t feel the same, but whatevs. He did one more EP with Candlemass called The Door To Doom, which I do not own, and that was it. The band announced plans to retire during his tenure and it seemed things were coming to a close for Candlemass, but yeah, no.
