Candlemass - King Of The Grey Islands (2007)

At some point leading up to this album being completed Messiah Marcolin quit Candlemass. I still remember Messiah releasing a state of his leaving the band and Leif Edling citing it as simply “Messiah’s pre-production psychosis” and assuring fans that he will return. When that didn’t happen, the band auditioned new singers and brought in Solitude Aeturnus frontman Robert Lowe. I wasn’t sure he’d be a good fit for Candlemass at the time, but I gotta say… King Of The Grey Islands especially, but also the studio works that the band did with him during this era are some excellent doom metal. Love this fucking record and I was ready to pass it up at time of release… whew, I’m a bonehead sometimes.

2019 UK reissue from Back On Black. This pressing includes three bonus cuts on side D and overall sounds fucking great.
