Was just out at a local record shop today and stumbled across this collection of Coven demos, mainly from 1984 and 1987 plus a couple of newer demo recordings from 2024 on the NW Metalworx label and couldn’t resist picking this up. Just on my first spin as I write this, but the quality is awesome and I can’t deny that I’m surprised at how traditional heavy metal the 1984 demos are as I’ve always known Coven as more of a thrash/speed metal band with anti-Christianity vibes… well, the anti-Christian vibes has always been there, haha. By ‘87, they are in full thrash form. This shit is pretty awesome. Big fan of old school Seattle metal! Getting stupid with friends in the deep woods of the PNW with a big ass fire and metal was my teenage years and this tracks, 100%!
2025 limited US pressing on NW Metalworx. Sounds fantastic. Link is just “Sacrilege” from the ‘87 demo, but it’s worth checking out. If you come across the LP, you should absolutely pick it up.
