El Loco is Dug Dug’s fourth and final album of the 1970s. The band released a couple of collections in the 80s, but haven’t really recorded new material since this LP. The album is has a nice thick late-70s production sound an musically it’s some fantastic heavy psychedelic rock, not unlike Hawkwind during this same period. Absolutely worth checking out this amazing album.
OG 1978 Mexican pressing on RCA Camden. I got this via Discogs and it’s probably one of the riskiest, yet ultimately successful Discogs orders I ever went through with. The record was a G+ rating and had some major seam splits (3 of 4 sides being fucked). Was able to fix the seam splits with archival hinging tape and hit the record 3-4 times with my ultrasonic record cleaner. Plays fucking perfect now and doesn’t even have any crackle. Amazing. I won’t event go into the shipping drama which was a definite thing.
