King Crimson - Discipline (1981)

Robert Fripp has disbanded King Crimson in 1984 and moved forward, staying quite active and without any interest in reactivating the mighty KC. In 1980 he formed a new band called Discipline, with Bill Bruford, Tony Levin, and the musically eccentric Adrian Belew. After a single gig under the Discipline moniker, they soon decided to rename the quartet to King Crimson, and just like that, 1980s Crimson was alive. A very different beast than the 70s band, their sound was compact, 80s modern, and compositionally much more direct, but also deceivingly complex, maybe even more so that OG band… and the 73-74 era remains my all time favorite! Anyway, there is nothing I can write here that properly expresses the true mastery of this album. Brilliant.

Original 1981 US pressing on EG/Warner Bros. Records and while I’ve had this copy for ages, I remain stoked at how good it sounds.
