Well shit, I’ve been a little uncertain about when to dip in to the universe of the Oh Sees for this journal, but here I go… what I have anyway. Help is both the most recent Oh Sees album I have picked up and also the earliest release of theirs that I own. The band is in a state of constant evolution, but what we have here is some seriously psychedelic garage rock with deep punk vibes. Maybe not for everyone, but this dirty ass album fucking smokes to my ears. If a tribute to 1060s psych rock, it succeeds where other fail, but somehow it seems like it’s aiming for something else entirely. Good shot, whatever it is.
Tagging all my Thee Oh Sees, Oh Sees, Osees, OCS albums as “Oh Sees” to keep from going nuts about it.
2009 US repress on In The Red and it sounds fantastic. Landed this used at a record show earlier this year and pretty happy about it.
