Dark Space I is of course the debut album from Swiss experimental black metal act, Darkspace. They are a 3-piece collective with vocals, two guitarists, a bassist and electronics. Musically, they are rooted in black metal but with heavy dark ambient, krautrock, and atmospheric vibes wrapped in the cold, dark, nether regions of deep space. Sort of wild, a little heady in an art scene kind of way, and quite enjoyable if you’re a weirdo like me.
2023 US/EU reissue from Season Of Mist and it’s quite nice. Sounds fantastic, but if not for the hype sticker I’d have a hard time differentiating Darkspace albums from each other by the sleeve.
