Toad (1971)

Toad was a superb heavy rock band out of Switzerland, let by guitarist and eventual vocalist Vic Vergeat. For their debut only, the band is a four piece and features vocalist Benjamin Jäger and he’s a great singer with a raspy yet melodic approach. The album is solid and one hell of a debut considering it didn’t seem to gain much attention at the time. Engineered by a young Martin Birch, the production is amazing which is both impressive and unsurprising as Birch is the master! Excellent record! If you ever come across this in the wild, empty your wallet and get the damn thing! You won’t miss the money and you will gain a lifetime of killer jams. Werner Frölich’s insane bass playing alone is worth getting this album on your turntable!

2015 Italian reissue on Akarma and it sounds fucking great.
