A pretty famous early rap act from NYC, the Fat Boys served up old school rap and hip-hop, before that scene really blew up. While not really much of a rap or hip hop guy, I sort of love this album a bit. I spent the summer of 1983 working as a dishwasher in my uncle’s restaurant in Staten Island, NY and one of the guys working in the kitchen had a Disco 3 cassette tape that he played a shit-ton throughout that summer. It initially perplexed me and then it grew on me. The band of course became the Fat Boys and I swear much of this was on that tape… which was maybe a demo or something, because this record was not out in ‘83.
1984 US pressing on Sutra. I came across this recently for $2.00 and could not pass it up. It’s a little rough but plays great.
