Hellish Crossfire is the debut album from Hamburg speed metal lets Iron Angel and it’s pretty fucking great. Speed metal and thrash manifested at around the same time, but I’d say speed metal kept its overall footing on traditional heavy metal while thrash was way more of an amalgamation of punk rock and NWOBHM. Iron Angel is a rare band that fits squarely into the speed metal realm, while remaining thrash relevant. Genres are stupid though. This album rips and that what’s most important.
2021 German reissue on the phenomenal High Roller Records and it looks and sounds absolutely amazing.
