Jan Garbarek’s album Dis is a haunting and beautiful album of Scandinavian jazz/fusion. The album is somewhat minimalist with just Garbarek’s saxophone and Ralph Towner’s guitar and harp playing taking any kind of focus while music of the other instrumentation severs as a subtle driver or even somewhat of an ambient vibe. Honestly, I don’t think my description doing all that great at describing just how great this album is. Give yourself a little space and give it a spin. There is much to love.
1977 US pressing on ECM. The more I dig, the bigger a fan I become of the ECM label for jazz/fusion. So good.
