I’ve had this copy of Sign No. 9 kicking around for probably 15 years or more and I’ve hardly touched it for no reason other than figuring it wasn’t going to be all that good. Well, I was wrong. It may not be one of Jane’s best releases, but it’s a fantastic little record. The prog is a bit more dialed back, but the band have such a cool sound going on at this stage, I’m down with it! Most prog bands were already failing hard by 1979, so it’s a nice surprise to hear Jane hanging in there at the end of the 70s. For ages I’ve considered this the end of my Jane vinyl collection, but now I’m reconsidering, hah.
