Mammatus are a psychedelic stoner heavy rock band from Corralitos, California and this is their self titled debut album. The band produces a heavy space rock sound that is somewhere in the range of Hawkwind, Acid King, and a hint of Black Sabbath and it works. I’m only a bit familiar with this one and their follow up The Coast Explodes, but they have a good number of studio albums out at this point. This is the only one I own at present.
2006 UK pressing from Rocket Recordings. Another recent Ottawa pickup, I wasn’t sure if this would clean up all that well, but it’s essentially perfect.
