Steppenwolf’s third album At Your Birthday Party seems like a natural continuation of the sound they had been building on with their first two albums. Interestingly, this LP doesn’t seem to contain any hits, nor any obvious attempts at a radio friendly single, but I could be wrong. Love the looseness of the guitars floating over the bands relatively tight rhythm section. Very cool record.
1981 US reissue on MCA Records. The cover is a simplified version of the original and sadly not as cool in my humble opinion, but it sounds great.
