I’ve sort of known about Frumpy for a good 25 years or so (I’m so old), but hadn’t really dug into them or physically owned any of their stuff until now. The band was a German heavy psych blues rock outfit featuring the powerful vocals of Inga Rumpf. While the overall recording is fairly raw, the band is on fire and if anything it eventually becomes clear that the production aesthetic lends itself to the sound that the band is cranking out. Once this hits, the record sort of takes off and it’s a love blast of pure rock ‘n roll rich in bluesy, heavy, and psychedelic moments. Having had such a great experience with this 2xLP set, I’m ready to dig into Frumpy’s studio LPs.
1973 German pressing on Philips.
