Stomu Yamash’ta’s East Wind - Freedom Is Frightening (1973)

Stomu Yamash’ta’s East Wind was one of the many monikers that Yamash’ta utilized for his various projects in the 70s. Freedom Is Frightening feels a bit more prog rock than some of his percussion jazz/fusion releases and I really dig the vibes on this one. All instrumental tunes, lots of killer jams. Still taking it in.

1973 German pressing on Island Records. My first play of a small cache of Stomu Yamash’ta LPs that I recently picked up in Frankfurt. Helluva start!
