Tim Blake’s debut solo album Crystal Machine was also sort of the name of his collaborative live performance works with French light artist Patrice Warrener. The album is very much in step with some of the best late 70’s progressive electronic artists like Klaus Schulze, Edgar Froese, or Richard Pinhas. That said, this album is not derivative and stands strongly on its own. Solid album, end to end.
1977 French pressing on the Egg label. I bought this on a whim due to Blake’s involvement with classic Teapot era Gong and later quality efforts with Hawkwind… that and the awesome cover convinced me that I needed this in my life and it paid off, big time.
