White Spirit (1980)

White Spirit is one of the many excellent NWOBHM bands that had only a brief flash of success and quickly dropped into obscurity. However, White Spirit’s sole album during their initial run is unique in that it featured full on keyboards from Malcom Pearson which gave the band a very thick MkIII Deep Purple vibe mixed with maybe hints of the Tygers Of Pan Tang, but executed in a way that in no way sounds derivative or anything. Really solid album. Of course, guitarist Janick Gers would go on to play in the solo bands of Ian Gillan, Bruce Dickinson, and eventually become a full time member of Iron Maiden. This album is fucking fantastic.

1980 UK pressing on Neat Records/MCA Records. Been working in Frankfurt, Germany this last week and was happy to land this LP during my brief time exploring the city.
