Bauhaus - In The Flat Field (1980)

If you listen to In The Flat Field through the lens of a heavy metal kid in the 1980s, Bauhaus is more ferocious and doom-laden that most metal bands at the time. This is some dark, heavy fucking shit. Of course, this isn’t metal at all but more of an ungodly mix of post-punk, goth, art rock, and psych. Bauhaus were on to something, out of time and incredibly unique for their time. Brilliant. This album absolutely crushes, by the way. No record collection is complete in any sense without it.

1980 UK pressing on 4AD. I owe much credit to my wife for pushing Bauhaus on me when I was an opinionated asshole thrash metal guy in the late 80s. It took a bit of effort on her part but when it hit, it hit hard.
