Originally released in 1972, I believe German Oak is meant as some sort of conceptual experiment recorded live at the underground Luftschutzbunker (Air-Raid Shelter) in Düsseldorf-hamm and themed around the third reich (reflectively). Where there are some loose vocals here and there, the album is largely instrumental, jammy, foggy, dark, and a bit cold feeling… which very much exudes the vibe of an underground WWII bunker. Unique, but cool album.
2018 2xLP US reissue (retitled Down In The Bunker) on Now-Again Records. Not a fancy pressing, but quite nice.
