Rhizosphere is Richard Pinhas’ debut solo album after years of releasing music under the Heldon moniker. While this initial LP is still very similar to Heldon, I’d say it’s a bit more introspective and leans a bit towards the ambient spectrum of things, musically. Not unlike his successful run with Heldon, Pinhas is kicking off another creative peak with his solo works..I cannot say enough good things about this record! Absolutely crucial.
1978 US pressing on Aural Explorer. I picked this up at Moondog in Vegas a few years ago and while it’s a bit beat up, I hadda get it. It initially had a bit of a crackly noise floor, but after a couple rounds in the ultrasonic cleaner and some gentle brush work, it sounds brand new on my turntable this evening. One of my favorite records in my collection.
