Snake Nation (1989)

Snake Nation was a side project of at a time when Corrosion Of Conformity was in a bit of a questionable state, like no one knew if the band would continue in 1989, as a fan, honestly. While I’ve long been familiar with Snake Nation as a project, it was until about 2014 when I picked up a copy of the band’s sole album. Featuring Mike Dean and Woody Weatherman with drummer (and somewhat well known illustrator) Brian Walsby. Musically, there is some interesting ideas laid down here, but the recording and sadly, the performance, is a bit lacking here. Maybe with more time this could have been awesome, but it feels like it needed a bit more time in the oven, if I may so bold as to say. I’m super stoked to have this, but it feels like a rehearsal, or demo recording more than a proper album.

1989 US pressing on Caroline Records. The cassette version has a few extra tracks not included on the LP which is cool. I have the cassette version too (which I ripped to digital), but this one has never been released on CD.
