The Magic Lanterns were a British group that released just a trio of albums and a number of singles between 1967-1971. Shame Shame is the band’s second LP and honestly, I don’t know a ton about them. Musically, this is late 1960s psychedelic pop music with a shade of folk influences. Very lightweight radio friendly stuff, but it’s reeled me in enough that I really do enjoy it every so often. Good songs and a cool sound.
1969 US pressing on Atlantic Records. A friend of mine that I used to work with way back in the early 2000s gave me this LP and told me a funny story how there was speculation that the bass player Mike “Oz” Osbourne was actually Ozzy Osbourne back in the pre-internet days which cracks me up now, but I could see how those kind of rumors would make the rounds back then.
