Oh! Pleasant Hope wraps up Blue Cheer’s initial run on a pretty solid note. A little less chilled out than The Original Human Being, but not quite the fuzzed out madness of their earlier days. Cool record and I’m sure fans, and maybe the band, were wondering what’s next? The album did not do well and the band split later on in ‘71. They would attempt to reform a few times in the 70s, but would get another album out until 1984. Even though it didn’t hit at the time, Oh! Pleasant Hope is a solid effort.
1971 US pressing on Philips. I got this copy at a shop called Red Onion Records in Washington DC some years ago and still remember nabbing it. It stuck me that for such an old LP, it still had that brand new feeling like it was never played, and that seems to have been the case.
