L’Ethique continues to push forward with modern electronics, but feels much heavier in guitars and percussion than its predecessor, East West. Pinhas’ playing is in full force and very much in th same vein as Robert Fripp, but like when Fripp would let it wail during “Starless” or something from the 1973-75 era of King Crimson. Still, this album sounds nothing like Crimson and is an absolute beast of its own design. Richard Pinhas would soon take break from releasing music after this and went largely inactive until about 1992.
2019 German reissue from Bureau B and it’s great.
