As Steppenwolf carried into the 1970s, it seemed as if their days of kicking out big hits was behind them, but that doesn’t mean that they weren’t still making good music. For Ladies Only has some cool ass jams, very much in the spirit of the early 70s motorcycle culture, smoky roadhouse bars, and the post-hippie malaise of the time. This record has vibes, man. The band would split up in ‘72, but would all reform, and split up again, and there’s a lot more after that, but this is the last proper studio album I have (at this point).
1971 US pressing on Dunhill/ABC Records. Only record I own with a penis shaped car in the gatefold, hah!
