The band chose to call this one Steppenwolf 7, with the idea that including the band’s two live albums to date, makes this seven, even though it is technically the band’s fifth studio album of all new material. And here’s my take… this is easily the best album Steppenwolf ever made. Zero hits, but all killer and no filler. An absolute stoner heavy rock masterpiece! How this record doesn’t get way more attention than it does simply baffles me. Check this out.
1970 US release on Dunhill/ABC Records. I think this was the first Steppenwolf album I ever bought, used, do like a buck, haha. Plays real good, but I should probably consider a cleaner copy. Eh, maybe.
