The Faust Tapes is somewhat of a collection of tracks and clips that had been previously recorded but not used in the first two Faust albums. And essentially, this album does sound like a kooky cut and paste record of experimental weirdness. Normally, this kind of thing can wear on one’s nerves, but Faust somehow manages to keep it interesting, even when the odds are stacked against them. The music sort of takes you on a tour of the eclectic eccentricities of the krautrock movement at a time when it was at its most wild. Not for everyone, but neither is most good music.
1973 UK pressing on Virgin and it’s a lovely thing.
