I suppose I hadn’t planned to keep going past the first couple of Soft Machine albums as I wasn’t sure I’d connect with their jazz/fusion evolution, but it seems that with each album. I realize more and more, I am down with the band. Fifth is very much a jazz/fusion record and it definitely smokes with elements of prog and psych still present and a rich, warm recoding quality that can’t be beat. Excellent LP.
1979 UK reissue on Embassy/CBS and it’s a lovely release.
